Cliche of ClichesOverheard:
"Hey, it's the thoughts that counts."
"Well, actions speaks louder than words!"
"But, silence is golden.."
Somehow, I'm always involved in such absurd verbal exchanges.

ParaphraseWell, for those offended by my flurry of profanities, let me just reiterate what i had actually wanted to say. I had intended for it to be sent to hall admin in my state of fury, but den decided against it eventually, seeing that it's actually a pretty trivial matter. The hall has better things to do (like taking care of the fish, maintaining the massage chair, making banners for homecoming hostelites from the mountains and games) than to address such an insignificant issue. I suppose my main qualm about it is simply just how rude and absurd his demands were, and how his attitudes coincides with his fuck face perfectly. Oops, there I go again.
To whom it may concern,
I just would like to question and feedback about the current arrangement with the campus security and their role as facilitators of our hall in general.
The story goes like this: I was at the dining hall having a late dinner, which ended at around 830 when i noticed the corridor lights being switched on. Trying to be civic minded and doing my part to help the hall conserve energy, I decided to switch off the corridor lights, seeing that it's past dinner time and not many people would be using that particular stretch of area.
It was only then that I realised that one of the campus security personnel was lounging at the sofa having what appeared to be OUR hall dinner (I happen to catch him drinking our cordial from the dispenser). Realising my mistake, I apologised immediately only to have him demanding that I submit my name to him in a very rude and unprofessional manner.
I would hence like to question the following:
1) Do campus security personnel have the mandate to access hall food and services?
I notice that quite a number of expensive equipment and priviledges that are freely available to the residents (eg. the sofas, dining area and food, massage chair) are also readily available to non residents as well. It would be grave injustice if we are the onces paying while outsiders are using (and god forbid, damaging and spoiling) our amenities.
2) What business does campus security have, loitering in Eusoff hall, off duty and having dinner at the residents' area?
I understand that should his presence be required, as part of his job scope, but at that point of time, he appeared to be taking a break and having his meals rather than 'working'. Should he dirty or damage the upholstery of our furniture, who is going to pay for it? If residents can eat in the designated dining area, couldn't he confine his meals at the relevant proper venues as well?
3) Lastly, on what grounds does he have in undertaking actions such as the taking down of sensitive particulars, especially so in the current context when I seem to have done nothing wrong in particular?
It is very important for residents to have the kind of assurances that the working personnel (especiall the security personnel) are not abusing their authority. Personally, I do not think anyone would think that they are making the hall any much safer when all you ever see them doing is sitting around the sofas outside the hall office having their dinners and resting (especially so when the area they are seen loitering are not places of high concerntration of students - so who's security are they ensuring?). In lieu of their nature of work, I would rather i NOT see them loitering in one place, given that they would have to patrol the campus and halls to ensure our security.
I feel deeply incensed and irate at the audacity and unprofessional behaviour of that particular campus security personnel, and hope that his apparent behaviour is atypical of his many other peers in the same profession as he is.Labels: Whine
Obedience to AuthorityThis is ridiculous. In a bid to cut back on power, I thought I'd do MY civic duty as part of energy conservation and turn off all lights at the corridor leading to the dining hall, in lieu that they would not be used given that it's past dinner time.
So then I realised there's actually somebody at the adjacent lounging area (slacking), and swiftly apologised as i turned the lights back on.
Only to find lo-and-behold, our dear campus security personnel (i wouldn't call him an 'officer', as that would be devaluing the term itself), slightly (and that would be an understatement) irate at the momentary lapse of power.
"Sorry sorry, I didn't know there was anybody here.."
"You should have known! What's your name? I want to take down your name!"
Say again? AYE should be the one taking down YOUR name, you fucking skiving cunt, for having failed to fulfil your security duties, abusing your authority and overstepping your boundaries of jurisdiction.
Primarily, that bugger isn't contracted to my hall of residence, and hence isn't entitled to use the facilities here. That's my bloody sofa you're sitting on, with your filthy ass and greasy hands you're touching, GDMFS.
Secondary, on what grounds do you have to know who i am? I don't even know who you are or your fucking name, dear mister!
"You fucking watchdog lackey! & I'll bet you don't even have post secondary education! Even when all that is paid for by the government on grounds of native ethnic sovereignty!"
Bordering with intent at the R word, lemme just clarify myself by saying that it would have been understandable at his inferior communicative skills, had he really been born of lower intellect and lacking higher education. Hence if that were to be REALLY the case, then I would have forgiven him totally and magmanimously.
Maybe there really is something about men and uniforms. Or maybe it's just a local 'man-in-white-for-purity' uniform.
